PBS chose my design for their 2014 PBS ARTS Fall Festival show package. It was awesome to be a part of every step on such a large scale project, from design to video shoot. This package was all about these large mirror structures artfully reflecting talent and the environment around them. At times we used real footage from a shoot and other times we tried to recreate the set pieces in 3D. It was great being on set and seeing all the magic happen.
This was the original comp that really sold the idea of these large spinning mirror set pieces to the client. Later, I thickened the size of the blades to match the actual set pieces in the shoot. The final logo font the client chose was also a bit thicker, but I loved how sleek and clean it looked here before client requests to adjust.
These frames bookended much of the show package. They feature our talents beautifully reflected in our 3D render of the mirror set pieces. We saved some cost on the shoot by not directly shooting these moments.

This is how the graphics would transition from the end credits to a split credit screen. Here, Kristin Chenoweth would give show related information. Then, a transition with the mirror blades as if they were stripped off the set piece wiped to the next scene. This took us to a screen showing the DVDs of what the viewer just saw for sale. Finally, a white flash of light would take the viewer back to the full end credit screen.
This was the original comp that really sold the idea of these large spinning mirror set pieces to the client. Once they could see the possibilities of these set pieces artfully reflecting the environment around them they began getting excited for the shoot.
